REAL MEN COOK MEAT!!!!!!

I'm going to throw my beautiful bride a curve ball here and blog from work...SHHHHHHHH. Some of you might not know that Noah is in Cub Scouts. By my estimation he's probably about the most manly of all Cub Scouts but I'm partial. In order to get another activity checked off he needed to cook outdoors.

Now when most people think about the term "Outdoor Cooking" they might think of cooking over a campfire or something cliche like that. NOT my boy! Below is a series of photos I call "Real Men Cook Meat"

First as every MAN knows when you're going to cook outdoors there is one tool that makes it impossible for you to do your job without. That one tool is of course a chef hat.



By the way, if you're a real man not only do you need a chef hat but your older sister will need one and you'll need to get a pilgrim type hat for your younger brother and a Tickle-Me-Elmo for your baby brother.

Soooooooo, let's make some outdoor cooking magic happen.

First gather wood from dead trees in the area to build your fire, or just go out and get the BBQ primed to go.


Warning the fire in the BBQ will intimidate anybody no matter how manly you are.


Next it's just a matter of flippin' meat and throwin' on some pepper. AWWWWWWW, my man make fire! Cook meat! Feed family!!!! I'm soooo proud of you Noah! YOU ROCK!

New Years at the Nelson house

As promised earlier, here is the continuation of the festivities earlier this month. For New Year's Eve we had a great time, we played games, watched TV and hung out. Lyndsey and Noah made it until Midnight, the other two really had no choice, Mom and Dad were ready for them to go to bed. Noah and Lyndsey, got on their warm clothes and rang the new year in with the pots and pans, they were a little hesitant at first but then the neighbors came out with pots and pans and all was good.




























Jacob is so independent, he doesn't want anyone to help him with anything, including eating his yogurt so I had to snap a picture of how real men eat their yogurt.

Time to update the blog....

So, Christmas is put away, the house is clean and I am avoiding the laundry pile that is climbing my wall so it is the perfect time to update the blog.

I am a little behind so the debate is to do it all in one blog or piece by piece???? I guess we will find out when I am done typing and you are done reading, I haven't really decided yet.



Christmas week at school is always filled with activities, first of all was Noah's Gingerbread festival with his class. They had been working on plans to construct a gingerbread house, (Noah's plan included 100 M&M's yummy!). Mrs. Jensen invited parents to come and join in putting these houses together.














Next came Lyndsey's choir performance, she loves singing in the choir and they did a great job. She especially enjoys singing with her friend Courtney.















Then it was the BIG DAY!!!! The night before we read the Christmas Story from the Bible and to everyones surprise we opened pj's oh and I can't forget the traditional "Night before Christmas in Texas that is" only thing missing was my Dad to read this story, next year we will have to get him here to read it! After that Lyndsey and Noah helped set up Jacob and Max's bounce house. I know it might be a little overboard but really it wasn't that expensive and I am way excited about it, wishing there was one for mommy's!















It was a big hit in fact, Max and Jacob stayed in there all morning.















Lyndsey and Noah got DS's from Santa and of course Dave got them Utah gear, a basketball (signed by the team) for Noah and a necklace for Lyndsey.






It was a great morning and we had all day to play around and enjoy the festivities. So I think I am done for the day, have a few more things to post, new years, Max throwing a fit and a demonstration on how real men eat yogurt. Something to look forward to....
